1.Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM: Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) is the ability to combine a set of light wavelengths for transmission through a single fiber. This is a laser technology used to increase bandwidth over existing fiber optic backbones. Rather, the technique is to multiplex the tight spectral spacing of individual fiber carriers in a given fiber in order to take advantage of the achievable transmission performance (eg, with minimal dispersion or attenuation). In this way, the total number of optical fibers required can be reduced for a given information transmission capacity.
